JOIN US FOR ARBOR DAY ON FRIDAY APRIL 25th --Help the City of Thorp celebrate its 21st consecutive year as a Tree City USA at Arbor Day on Friday April 25th.  Beginning at 9:30am at City Hall, witness the planting of a large white oak in honor of all the Mayors who have been in office since Thorp has been a Tree City.  Six confirmed former Mayors will be there!

TAKE THE LIBRARY HOURS SURVEY --How do the current hours at the Thorp Public Library meet your needs? How could they be better?  Take a few minutes to complete a survey to let them know.  Follow this link to take a Survey Monkey survey, or click here to download a version you can print and submit.

RUN WATER ORDER LIFTED -- Effective Tuesday April 8, 2014, residents no longer need to keep a thin stream of water running to prevent frozen water services.  Meters will be read the week of April 14th, with a target bill distribution date of April 25th.  Bills will be for the full amount of water consumed, but a voucher will be included with the bill with which customers can claim their credit of 250 gallons for each week they ran their water.

THORP'S SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE HAS LAUNCHED ITS "14 IN 14" INITIATIVE -- Recycling in the City of Thorp declined nearly 45% between 2006 and 2011.  While it climbed slightly in 2012 (and final 2013 numbers are not available yet), there is room for drastic improvement.  The 14 in 14 premise is simple--every resident, every business, and every organization is being challenged to increase their personal recycling effort by 14% in 2014.  We'll keep you posted on the progress throughout the year!  Click here for a recycling information sheet to help you get started.  Click here for the 2014 residential curbside collection schedule.
